Computing in a Heterogenous Cluster Environment

The planned configuration allows use to study adminstrative and programmming problems with such mixed systems and discover and propose solutions that support major scientific and engineering computational problems.

Our interest in the GPFS for Linux and IBM's scientific subroutine libraries for the Linux cluster will demonstrate the importance and relevance of these products in this heterogenous configuration.

• Modeling hybrid computation using SIMPLE, and the OpenMP/MPI model with MPI-IO and MPI-2.
• Scheduling of hybrid computing platforms with Maui Scheduler/Wikiman port
• Scalable administrative management of the hybrid systems
• Developing Linux drivers for very high performance network interfaces and graphics cards
• Interoperability of highly reliable robust fault tolerant systems with clusters and other equipment that does not have this high availibility interest in what enhanced capabilities are provided by the ASCEND and gigarouter and interoperability with other network interfaces
