Minority Youth Environmental Training Institute
The National Hispanic Environmental Council (NHEC), a national, non-profit,
membership based organization in Washington, D.C., is accepting applications
from teens, aged 13 - 18, to attend its upcoming "Minority Youth Environmental
Training Institute". The Institute is an exciting, in-depth, motivational,
and highly educational 10 day program to be held in Glorieta, NM (near
Santa Fe) this August.
The Institute will be held August 3 - 26, 2001, at the scenic Glorieta
Lifeway Conference Center, and all students will housed there. The Institute
is designed to help create the environmental leaders of tomorrow by introducing
youth (especially Hispanics and other minorities) to a range of environmental
and natural resource topics, as well as environmental career and college
opportunities. If selected, NHEC will pay all major costs for students
to attend the Institute, including round-trip airfare, housing, all meals,
and educational materials.
There is no fee to apply, and only a $35 registration fee for students
(for the entire 10 days) if selected. The Institute is being funded by
the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture (through the U.S. Forest Service) and the
National Park Service, and their staff will play a key role in the training.
All Application Forms and other detailed information about the Institute
is contained in the attached materials, as well as on our web page, at
http://www.nheec.org.
Thank you,
Roger Rivera President, NHEC
